Who am I?
PES Scholar - 2015 (Schweitzer Meritorious Scholar)
Electrical Engineering Major Expected Graduation: Spring 2018 University of North Carolina at Charlotte My area of academic emphasis is in power systems.
Why did you choose to study engineering and the power engineering field?
I chose to study engineering and specifically power engineering after working for some time as an electrical worker for a contracting company. Many of my responsibilities included wiring breaker, transformers, and relay panels for substations for Duke Energy substations across North Carolina. The concept fascinated me and I wanted to get into electrical engineering to learn all I could about it and also build a career in an area that I always want to be associated with.
What do you love about the power engineering field? What excites you about being involved in the PE field?
Everything about power engineering is fascinating to me! Specifically, I enjoy coming up more economical and efficient ways to generate and provide power/energy to world. Power engineering is an area that affects many other work environments such as hospitals, factories, and automobiles. It is fascinating being involved in a field that is dependent among other working areas.
How has been selected as a PES Scholar impacted you?
Being selected as a PES Scholar has impacted me greatly because it has given me an easier opportunity to study power and energy without as much stress on financial concerns.
