Who am I?
PES Scholar - 2014 and 2015
I am majoring in Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I plan to graduate in Spring 2017 with an academic emphasis on power engineering courses.
Why did you choose to study engineering and the power engineering field?
I chose to study engineering because I have always enjoyed math and science. The reason I study the power engineering field is because my dad and oldest brother both work in that area and got me interested in it.
What do you love about the power engineering field? What excites you about being involved in the PE field?
What I like about the power engineering field is that it challenges me. I have worked for a utility company throughout college and learned a lot about power generation. The more I work, I realize there is a lot for me to learn, which is a challenge that I enjoy. I look forward to having a career where I can do something that interests me while helping people live in our society that depends on electricity.
How has been selected as a PES Scholar impacted you?
Being selected as a PES Scholar has impacted me in two ways. First of all, the financial help is much appreciated. Thanks to this scholarship and my work experience, I will be able to graduate college debt-free, which is something that I never expected I could do. Second, being a PES Scholar motivates me to continue my academic success. I work extra hard so that I can renew my scholarship. Knowing that I have support from IEEE behind me, I always try my best to not let anyone down.
