Who am I?Herling Dayna

PES Scholar - 2015

Electrical Engineering, 2018, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, focusing in Engineering Management and Power

Why did you choose to study engineering and the power engineering field?

I would like to go into Renewable Energy and improving its technology and expanding it commercially.

What do you love about the power engineering field? What excites you about being involved in the PE field?

I'm excited that it'll give me the opportunity to work in improving and hopefully one day solving the world's energy crisis. I want to go into renewable energy for this reason because from my research, wind, hydro and solar can and will become the most sustainable and economic sources of energy with proper and expected technology improvements and investment.

How has been selected as a PES Scholar impacted you?

Becoming a PES Scholar has allowed me to further my studies and has encouraged me to get even more involved in power engineering than I would have if I was not selected. I have decided to take my classes to the field and am applying and will be accepting an internship in power engineering. This scholarship and distinction has given me the confidence to pursue these opportunities and has helped me achieve my professional goals much quicker than I had anticipated.
