Hoveida Family Scholars
Thanks to the generous financial support of Hoveida Family Foundation, founded by Bahman Hoveida, and their advocacy for excellence in power engineering, each year 30+ Hoveida Family Scholars will be identified among the PES Scholars. Hoveida Family Scholars are declared electrical engineering students and selected based on the PES Scholarship Plus criteria.
The IEEE Foundation and IEEE Power & Energy Society are honored that the Hoveida Family Foundation selected the PES Scholarship Plus Initiative as one of its first charitable donations. In doing so they are strengthening the future workforce of the power and energy sector.

The Hoveida Family Foundation is a Philanthropic organization dedicated to the promotion of scientific and engineering education and research to make the world a better place for all humanity and all living things. The foundation is a private philanthropic organization based in the State of Washington. It primarily provides grants for scientific causes which would make people's lives better and those that positively impact the environment. The Family has prospered through science and engineering education and applying that education to entrepreneurial endeavors, creating world-class engineering businesses to create Family's wealth. In return, the Family has dedicated part of this wealth to support Sciences and Scientific philanthropic causes including scholarships and grants to higher education scientific programs.
Bahman Hoveida - Biography
Bahman is the President of Accurant International an energy and clean-tech investment and management consulting organization as well as the President of the Hoveida Family Foundation a philanthropic organization committed to furtherment of sciences.
Bahman was the founder and CEO of Open Systems International (OSI), a very successful utility automation and control software company which was acquired by Emerson Electric in 2021. Under his stewardship, OSI grew from a startup company of less than 10 employees to an international organization of nearly 1000 employees disrupting the utility automation field. Under his watch, OSI remained a profitable company year after year with impressive revenue growth. Bahman is also a leading expert in Smart Grid technologies and served as the technical visionary at OSI to help innovate and build an impressive product portfolio including a leading Advanced Distribution Management (ADMS) and Distributed Energy Resource Management (DERMS) platform. Since retiring from OSI, Bahman is involved in managing a family office which invests in high growth energy and clean-tech companies. He uses his 40+ years of technical and business experience in leading growing organizations, to advise the portfolio companies in an Advisory or Board role in technical, organizational, and sales and business development matters. Bahman has previously worked for divisions of GE and Siemens involved in Utility Energy Management systems as well as serving as a management consultant to Utilities worldwide. Bahman holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Electric Power from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
